Supporting the Talent of Tomorrow at Romar-Abrado

It’s no easy feat breaking into a competitive industry such as energy, oil and gas. As a local company working worldwide, we understand the importance of supporting the talent of tomorrow. That’s why Romar-Abrado takes pride in offering young people vital experiences that will help them develop valuable skills and assist them in advancing their careers. In June, we welcomed Caitlin, who has been completing a summer work placement in the Romar-Abrado workshop.

Caitlin’s in her final year at Fraserburgh College, where she’s studying Mechanical and Electrical engineering as part of a two-year engineering scheme. In the future, she hopes to become an ROV technician and specialise in electrical engineering. We’re pleased that we can provide her with knowledge and skills that she can utilise throughout her education and future career.

Caitlin has been an asset to Romar-Abrado and keeps us on our toes by testing our knowledge and asking plenty of insightful questions. Caitlin has undoubtedly jumped in at the deep end as she’s been tackling our filing system and staying on top of admin duties. Working alongside Romar-Abrado’s Repair and Maintenance Manager, Sean Burrows, Caitlin’s been helping to revise documentation and has learnt all about the importance of COSHH.

We recently had the opportunity to catch up with Caitlin to find out what she has enjoyed about her work placement. She said:

“I’ve really enjoyed working alongside Sean and the workshop team; everyone’s been so welcoming! Throughout my placement, I’ve been learning about health and safety and the different procedures that Romar-Abrado follows to keep the workshop and wider team in check.

“I was drawn to the oil and gas industry as I’ve always enjoyed studying STEM subjects at school. It just so happens that my dad, Justin, also works in the industry at Romar-Abrado as a System Analyst!

“As my placement progresses, I’m looking forward to getting into the workshop and helping with practical tasks such as painting equipment and general maintenance. This opportunity has helped me learn more about the practicalities of the workplace and important procedures in the industry, which will support me when progressing in my career. I can’t thank the Romar-Abrado team enough for their support.”
