Romar-Abrado appoints David Stokes to pave the way in technological excellence

Romar-Abrado, an industry leader in the surgical removal of multiple casing sections, has appointed David Stokes as its new Chief Technology Officer. Stokes will be based in Aberdeenshire and support the combined businesses globally.

Building the bridge of operational excellence between Abrado and ROMAR, Stokes will develop a technology roadmap that optimises job performance, solves client challenges, and drives collective growth. With a bachelor’s degree in Engineering at Robert Gordon University and nineteen years of experience in design technology, Stokes will bring a wealth of knowledge in technical engineering to the business.

Commenting on his appointment, Stokes said: “I have worked in the oil and gas sector for the best part of my life, and Romar-Abrado stood out as an organisation that solves bespoke challenges with innovative solutions.

“Working with ROMAR, Abrado houses an employee value proposition (EVP) that drives growth and lifelong learning. Over the years, Romar-Abrado CEO Jason Broussard and I have worked on several projects together. When I learnt that the companies joined forces in 2020 to emerge as leaders in milling technology, I knew I had to get involved.

“Romar-Abrado are renowned for cutting-edge technology that increases efficiency, preserves asset life and minimises the risk of downtime. With ROMAR’s kit at surface and Abrado’s technology downhole, it will be interesting to work with two leading organisations that have embarked on a collective journey of discovery. Teamwork is at the heart of the business, and this is a culture that I want to be part of.”

Stokes’ appointment follows the company’s recent announcement that Kenny Campbell and Lars Kristiansen have been hired to support Romar-Abrado’s continued growth. Aberdeen-based Campbell has been hired as a Business Development Consultant to support the UKCS market. At the same time, Lars Kristiansen joined the team as the Business and Technical Sales Manager to bolster development in Norway. What’s more, the team has recently welcomed Ryan Strachan as a Fishing Tool Supervisor, further demonstrating a commitment to the company’s evolution.

Jason Broussard, Romar-Abrado President and CEO, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome David to oversee technology development at Romar-Abrado. Over the last couple of years, we’ve worked hard to implement a shared vision towards a successful future. We’re striving towards becoming the first-choice supplier of advanced milling and swarf handling services.

“David brings an extensive breadth of experience in engineering that is unmatched in the P&A industry. The appointment of David, Lars and Kenny not only supports our continued growth but lays the foundation for operational excellence.

“This year, we look forward to introducing new technologies that will expand our international footprint. The future is full of opportunity, and I look forward to sharing our vision with the wider industry.”
